Research Scholar, Post Graduate Division (July 1996 - Present)
Worked on a project, "Growth, cost and efficiency of public and private education: A study with special reference to secondary schools in Andhra Pradesh." Used a multi-stage sampling method to assess the efficiency of public and private education in India. Collected samples, weighted over rural and urban areas, from Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh. Used exam pass-outs, wastage (drop-outs and failures), and unit cost of education as means of efficiency assessment. Found that growth of government funded schools in the initial days is more than the privately funded schools. Found that the privately funded schools were efficient compared to government funded schools. Concluded that private education in India has been on the rise recently, especially among middle class families, their responsibility and accountability being the primary contributing factors.
Department of Economics, College of Arts and Sciences
Osmania University, Hyderabad, AP, India
Graduate Scholar, Post Graduate Program (October 1994 - June 1996)
Studied the Balance of Payments (B.O.P.) deficit situation in India. Identified the specific initiatives and measures implemented by the government to reduce the deficit since India's independence from British. Sub-divided total time period into three categories depending on the initiatives introduced.
Used the exponential growth trend equation with intercept and slope dummies to assess the trends of various components of B.O.P. Found that Import Liberalization suited most to impact the B.O.P. deficit in India.
